The titan rockefeller5/11/2023 He traveled across Ohio and Indiana, speaking to as many people as he could, looking for potential investors and laborers that would eventually amount to the founding of his oil company, Standard Oil. Working for others, and the training received from it, benefited him in the years to come as he began to network and invest and, ultimately, expand his own business ventures. Rockefeller attributed much of his success to his humble beginnings, particularly his first job as a bookkeeper, which paid 50 cents a day. Rather than succumb to these barriers, however, Rockefeller used them as opportunities to grow beyond them and swore to do whatever it took to become successful, following the guidance of his mother and learning from the poor example of his father. Healthy habits are the most powerful tools you can give employees.

Josie silver new book 20215/11/2023 Unfortunately, a mix-up with the bookings means both solitude seekers have reserved the same one-bedroom hideaway on exactly the same dates. With his life in Boston deteriorating in ways he can’t bring himself to acknowledge, his soul searching has brought him to the same Irish island in search of his roots and some clarity. Mac is also looking forward to some time to himself. The remote Irish island she’s booked is a far cry from London, but at least it’s a chance to hunker down in a luxury cabin and indulge in some quiet, solitary self-care while she figures out her next steps in her love life and her career. Spending her thirtieth birthday alone is the last thing that dating columnist Cleo wanted, but she is going on a self-coupling quasi-sabbatical–at the insistence of her boss–in the name of re-energizing herself and adding a new perspective to her column.

Voyager book diana gabaldon5/11/2023 I found myself a few days later rewatching Outlander from the beginning (because how else would I restart watching a TV show? Just jump in in the middle? CRAZINESS), and I managed to actually watch up through season 3!īut then I stopped, because I stupidly felt that I needed to read the third book in the series before I could move on to the next season. God knows I love bonkers television: Dynasty, Riverdale, Tidelands (which I will describe as “Australian Sons of Anarchy but with mermaids” until the day I die) – basically, if it looks cray and not dark like Prestige TV so much tries to be, I probably have it on my list. So I asked her if season 3 was any better, explaining I had stalled out in season 2, and she said yes – that it was, in its own way, bonkers. She started watching Outlander on Starz during the pandemic and had gotten farther than I had – I had flamed out just before the Battle of Culloden, for many reasons: it was boring, I was bored, I had read Dragonfly in Amber so I knew how it ended and there was no surprise for me anymore … et cetera. She was the catalyst, but she was definitely not at fault. I’m the idiot who decided to read the book, she didn’t hold a gun to my head and the book open at my nose. (No, no it’s not it’s not her fault at all. This is partially My Dear Friend Sarah’s fault.

The helga pictures5/11/2023 The critical world has never been kind to artists who dare to make money while they’re still alive - clearly commercial success must somehow negate the legitimacy of the art.Īt the heart of all this hand-wringing are some very simple, itchily familiar questions. This skepticism carries a strong whiff of jealousy. They cried from the rooftops of major publications that they had not been taken in by the drama, and pointed out that they had not been the ones who wrote up the story in those first summer weeks of flushed excitement over the Helga pictures. Surely that meant that the whole thing had been a publicity stunt? Establishment art critics, who have always had a testy relationship with Andrew Wyeth’s work, rushed to declare their skepticism about the Wyeths’ story of the Helga paintings. Andrews, who bought the complete Helga series and its reproduction rights, enjoyed hefty financial gains fueled, undeniably, by the public fascination with being let in on what looked like a very private relationship. Conspiracy theories flourished - journalists pointed out that both the Wyeths and the wealthy businessman, Leonard E.B. In the aftermath of this media maelstrom, the art world and the American public collectively tied itself into knots for years, trying to come to rest with some conclusion about the Helga paintings.

Noahs ark peter spier5/10/2023 Noahs Ark by Peter Spier was ful of lovely illustrations teling the bible story that was told in Genesis chapters 6-9… I find the story truly incredible and such a miracle… God decided to destroy sinful men and so he made the flood it rained for forty days and forty nights and all creation was ruined except for Noah and his family also all liveing nature was boarded onto him great big ark… Has anyone ever seen the movie "Evan Almight?" thats a great movie with the same Noah and the ark concept. Without ministers, leaders, christians, friends, and authors like Peter Spier then how would the lovely bible stories just like Noah and the ark be spread? How would children learn about the promises from God to his people? Anyone who is reading this then i want to let you know that you are the voices of Jesus… While on the earth its your job to spread love and peace… Its your job to share the bible and the stories that it contains and frankly i love doing that because seeing the expression on a childs face whenever they learn something new is PRICELESS! I look up to my sis/ friend Julie Grippo! I admire my pastor James Bradford and Crystal Martain!

Darth vader comic gillen5/10/2023 Moira used Mother Righteous as fuel to transport information into the reset timeline. It’s the greatest mutant genocide of all time, and Sinister pays the price. Moira kills her clone, and the universe resets. Ironfire decapitates Sinister, but it’s too late. The only problem? There is already a Dominion. Yet it grants Sinister enough power to launch himself into Dominion. It’s a horrific scene that even Sinister acknowledges is an atrocity. Halfway through Sins of Sinister: Dominion #1, every Sinisterized mutant burns alive. In his bid to launch himself into Dominion, Sinister activates his failsafe. But Sinister never planned for them to live forever. A single genetic variation in their DNA made them Sinister. Long before the Sinister universe began, nearly every single mutant was Sinisterized. Instead, the diamond-headed Sinister plays his final hand. The Namornauts don’t actually have a chance to do much, unfortunately. Sinister and Moira debate the ethics of universal reset before Sinister convinces Moira to give him a chance to upload information. As Xavier is brought into the conflict by Beast, Ironfire launches into the fight against him while Sinister breaks for Moira. Ironfire is the sort of man who would face death with a shrug. Turns out that he wasn’t interested in missing Sins of Sinister: Dominion. Ironfire, using his blood to shield his skull, charges back into the fray.

Shola von reinhold5/10/2023 Distantly, I recalled an instruction to squint when viewing Seurat, so I did that, too.Ĭaren Beilin’s Revenge of the Scapegoat is a weird book, in the best possible way. For a short time I paced in front of it, goofily leaning in close then stepping back. Walk closer and the picture dissolves into fragmented dots blinking some unrecognizable pattern. From a small distance, images appear as shimmering figures swimming through Pixelvision water. Tucked behind a partial gallery wall are 2,400 custom-built LEDs of various lengths mounted on a roughly four-by-six-foot black panel and arranged neatly in a tight grid, like a Lite-Brite for grown-ups or a work of Pointillism by robots with OCD. But the cake stealer is hiding in the back corner of the first floor: Topographic Wave II, by Jim Campbell. The exhibition, cocurated by the Church cofounder and artist Eric Fischl and the chief curator, Sara Cochran, features watery works from forty-two artists including Warhol, Ofili, Lichtenstein, Longo, and Kiefer, and an Aitken that delights. “ Empire of Water,” on view until May 30 at The Church in Sag Harbor, New York, is well worth a wander out east. Pam mustaine5/10/2023 We’ve shaved the back of a neck down where it meets the body for easier access for soloing. “It’s got my Seymour Duncan pickups and Grover tuners. What can you tell me about your still-under-lock-and-key signature Gibson Les Paul? Most Les Pauls, access stops around the 21st fret, but with mine, you can get all the way to the 24th And while the 24-fret single-cut remains a mystery to the world and is still in what Mustaine calls the ‘final tweaking stage,’ the red-haired firecracker gave me a sneak peek of his namesake rig in all its impending glory.Īs he prepares to celebrate a victory 40 years in the making, Mustaine checked in with Guitar World to discuss his new Les Paul, his influence over Metallica, the legacy of 1992’s Countdown to Extinction, and why Kiko is a better fit for Megadeth than Marty Friedman. |
